My name is Oluwafunmilayo, but I’m mostly called ”Funmi” because its easier and faster to pronounce. I am from Nigeria. Nigeria is found on the west coast of Africa. Let me tell you a lilttle about my country. Nigeria have three major tribes, which are the Yorubas, the Igbos, and the Hausas. The yorubas are found on the south-west part of Nigeria; the igbos are on the south-east part of Nigeria; while the hausas take over the nothern part of Nigeria. Well, I’m from the yoruba tribe and the meaning of my name is “God gives me joy”. I guess my parents were so happy about my birth, thats why they named me that(laughing). Anyways, I’m in Canada now, and I came here to fufill my dreams. Most especially, my dream of getting a degree withing the Medical Field.
I am an undergraduate student in Kwantlen Polytechnic University(KPU). I’m in between my first and second year in the programme of Associate of Science Degree, General Science. And I’m hoping to transfer to any other university, which I’m sure yet. I wouldn’t have transfer from KPU, if they have the degree im willing to pursue. But to be frankly honest, KPU is a great institute, and I recommend students graduating from high school to go because the instructors give students goo founation of whatever degree students are planning to pursue in the future. Plus, Stuents get one-on-one attention from the instructors because the classes aren’t that big.
This semester I’m taking sociology. I’m taking sociology for two good reasons. First of all, I’m taking sociology beacuase I’m part of the society and it’ll be wise to know how the society works and evolve. I love to explore and understand how the society works. There are rules and regulations that people in a society must follow….Social Justice. What I simply understand about social justice is that no one is excluded under the law. Secondly, i’m taking this course as an electives for the academic degree I’m taking in KPU.At the end of this course, I’m hoping to be able to grab something really important about society and how it affects the people in it.
